History of the Republican Party
The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a small group of dedicated abolitionists gathered to fight the expansion of slavery.
It was formally organized in 1854 by thousands of anti-slavery activists at a convention in Jackson, Michigan. Abraham Lincoln was
the first Republican to win the Presidency and Issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. The Republican-controlled 38th Congress
passed the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery in 1865. In 1866 with unanimous Republican support and against intense Democrat
opposition, Congress passed the 14th Amendment providing equal citizenship and rights to former slaves.
The history of the Democrat Party is one of slave holders, segregation and anti-civil rights.
The Democrat Party has a lot to answer for.
